📍Jorokuji Temple
There is a temple called "Jorokuji Temple" in the south of Tokushima City.
With Eiheiji as its head temple, it is the oldest surviving Soto Zen temple in Tokushima Prefecture and is also known as "Awa's Horyuji Temple" and "Awa's Shosoin Repository."
Jorokuji Temple is truly beautiful with its cherry blossoms in spring and autumn leaves in fall, but every year from November 1st to 3rd, the main hall and gardens are open to the public, and the "Shokannon Sazozo," designated as an Important Cultural Property, and the Kannon Hall built by Hosokawa Saneyuki are also open to the public.
The approach to the temple faces Prefectural Route 212, which has a fair amount of traffic, but
once you step inside the temple grounds, it is enveloped in silence like another world.
It is one of the oldest temples in Tokushima Prefecture and is known as "Awa's Horyuji Temple" because of its many Important Cultural Properties.
Jorokuji Temple is also famous as one of the best places to see autumn leaves in Tokushima City, and is a popular spot visited by many photography enthusiasts in the fall. #0yentravelFebruary2025
