The Sulfur Mountain in Hokkaido is famous for continuously spewing sulfur 24 hours a day!
In the Ainu language, it is called 'Atosanupuri,' which means 'naked mountain.'⛰️
Amazingly, this is the closest spot in Japan where you can observe fumaroles up close!
The sight of sulfur constantly erupting from the mountainside with a roaring sound is truly magnificent!
Additionally, nearby is Lake Kussharo, where you can dig into the sand to find natural hot springs!
If you visit Sulfur Mountain, be sure to check out this sand bath as well!
