The Heydar Aliyev International Airport (GYD) is the main gateway to Baku and the largest international airport in Azerbaijan. About 20 km northeast of Baku city center. Easily accessible by taxi, private transfer, or airport express bus. Named After: Heydar Aliyev, Azerbaijan’s former president. Terminal 1 (Main International Terminal): Opened in 2014, designed in a modern futuristic style with flowing wooden interiors and unique “cocoon pods” that house cafés, shops, and lounges.
