Wat Phra That Nong Waeng is a third-class royal temple. The temple has the Phra Maha That Kaen Nakhon, which is a blend of Dvaravati and Indochinese art. It was built on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the 200th anniversary of the city of Khon Kaen. The Phra That is 80 meters high and is the center of faith for Buddhists. They worship and pray for prosperity, progress, and good fortune.
