Li Phi Waterfall, Kon Phapheng, Southern Laos

#VisitLaos

It is a large waterfall that blocks the flow of the Mekong River. The islands that block the flow of water make the water flow fast, strong and loud. They say that when someone falls into the Mekong River and dies, they will get stuck here, so it is called "Li Phi". The word "Li" means a type of fishing tool made of woven bamboo placed to block the waterfall. Instead of catching fish, they end up with a corpse instead. Just hearing the origin of the name is scary.

We followed the signs to the end of the waterfall, the furthest and deepest, not even close. You will see thatched pavilions with tables and cushions, more than ten of them. This is a restaurant. When we came in the evening, there were not many people. After taking pictures of the atmosphere, it started to rain. There is also a Zipline activity here. It is really popular.
