Kinmen Zhushan Settlement

Kinmen Zhushan Settlement is a Xue family lineage settlement with a history of over 650 years, originally established during the Zhizheng period of the Yuan Dynasty. It is one of the best-preserved traditional settlements in Kinmen.

The layout of the settlement is particularly distinctive, surrounded by hills on all four sides with a large pond at its center, forming a feng shui pattern known as the "Four Waters Converging into the Pond," symbolizing wealth accumulation. All buildings are constructed facing the pond, with the Xue Ancestral Hall at the center, extending outward.

Within the settlement, you can find exquisite Minnan-style ancient houses such as the Dafudi and Jiangjundi, as well as Western-style buildings like the Xue Yong Nanyang Mansion, influenced by overseas Chinese culture, reflecting Zhushan's history as an important overseas Chinese hometown. The village's Da Dao Temple, dedicated to the Baosheng Emperor, serves as the spiritual center for the villagers.

Today, many of the ancient houses have been revitalized into unique homestays. It is highly recommended to visit Zhushan Park behind the settlement. In just a few minutes, you can reach the observation deck, where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the red-tiled roofs and surrounding ponds, making it a perfect spot for photography.
