Exploring Chikurin-ji Temple and Treasure Museum on Mount Godai, Shikoku

During my visit to Mount Godai in Kochi, I made a special trip to explore Chikurin-ji Temple and its Treasure Museum. Chikurin-ji is one of the 88 sacred temples of Shikoku and enshrines Manjushri Bodhisattva, symbolizing wisdom and learning. As I stepped into the temple, I was surrounded by ancient wooden carvings and stone lanterns, exuding a profound historical atmosphere.

Next, I visited the Treasure Museum, which houses a remarkable collection of precious Buddhist statues, scriptures, and artifacts offered to Chikurin-ji over the centuries. Each exhibit quietly tells stories spanning hundreds of years, offering a deep insight into the rich heritage of Japanese Buddhist culture.

After leaving the museum, I strolled through the garden, where the gentle breeze of Mount Godai rustled through the bamboo grove. It felt as though I had returned to the source of tranquility and wisdom. This cultural journey not only broadened my horizons but also brought a sense of inner peace.
