Koh Samui’s Sacred Side

#summervacay Okay, temple hopping in Koh Samui is actually way cooler than you might expect. First stop? Big Buddha Temple (Wat Phra Yai), giant golden Buddha chilling on a hill, with views for days. It’s kinda the icon of the island, and it’s super peaceful up there (if you can dodge the selfie crowds).

Just down the road is Wat Plai Laem, and this one is pure eye candy, colorful, detailed, and floating on a lake. There’s a big 18-armed Guanyin statue and a chubby laughing Buddha that’s honestly kind of adorable. The vibes are super zen, and you might even catch a monk chanting if the timing’s right.

Best part? These temples are super relaxed, just cover your shoulders and knees, take off your shoes, and you’re good. It’s a nice break from all the beach lounging, plus you get a little glimpse into the island’s spiritual side. Peaceful, photogenic, and surprisingly calming. Definitely worth a detour between coconuts.
