When I traveled to Kota Kinabalu, the beautiful scenery of the seaside was impressive, but I wanted to experience the local history and culture firsthand, so I visited Old Town. As the name suggests, Old Town is an area with old buildings and a traditional atmosphere, and it was a special space where Kota Kinabalu's past and present coexist~!!

When I first arrived, I was surprised by the completely different appearance from large shopping malls or high-rise buildings. There were low buildings lined up, and the exterior walls were painted in colorful colors, so just walking around made me feel good. Old shops, cafes, galleries and souvenir shops run by local artists each had their own unique character, so it was fun to slowly look around.😆

Also, as I walked, I could see murals and street art here and there, which added to the unique atmosphere of Old Town. I felt like I was traveling back in time, taking a leisurely walk away from the busy city center.

More than anything, the warm smiles and friendly greetings of the local people were impressive. Many people naturally talked to me as a tourist and guided me along the way, so it was a time when I could feel the warmth of Kota Kinabalu.

Old Town is not fancy or big, but it is a small and charming place. If I visit Kota Kinabalu again next time, I definitely want to stop by again and enjoy the atmosphere leisurely~🫠

• The market and shops are more lively and there are more things to see if you go in the morning.
• It can be hot, so it is good to bring a hat and water.
• Cash is often used in the market, so it is convenient to prepare some Ringgit (RM).
