Summer vacation in Japan "The best exercise - Kotohira Shrine"

#2024TravelReview

Kotohira-gu Shrine
The Kotohira-gu Shrine is famous for its long staircase. It is located in Kotohira-cho, Nakatado-gun, Kagawa Prefecture, on the hillside of Mt. Elephant's Head, 521 meters above sea level. There are 785 stone steps from the Omotesando to the Hongu Shrine, and 1,368 stone steps to the Okusha Shrine. Although it takes some physical strength to worship, it still attracts many people. It is a nationally renowned holy place of energy and a heavyweight attraction that many Japanese have considered to be "a pilgrimage once in their lifetime" since ancient times.
