Merdeka Square or Dataran Merdeka, an important historical site in Malaysia, is a memorial to the declaration of independence of the Malaysian people of the whole country. Located in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, it is currently a popular tourist attraction. Another one of Kuala Lumpur's attractions is the world's tallest flagpole. It is located in this area.
