🌟Highlights:
Kuala Lumpur Railway Station, built in 1910, is a historic building deeply influenced by Moorish architectural style. It was meticulously designed by the renowned architect Arthur Benison Hubback, featuring unique designs such as white walls and horseshoe-shaped arches.
The station’s domed arches stand majestically, with spires glazed in a way that bridges past and present, giving a Byzantine fairy-tale-like feeling.
The entire station is designed like a square castle, with train tracks in the middle. Trains enter and exit through two tracks, each with exquisitely crafted "gates."
🎈Historical Background:
In the past, passengers could travel from this station to most towns on the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia and directly to the northern east coast, as well as Singapore and Thailand. Since the opening of Kuala Lumpur Sentral in 2001, it has lost its status as the primary train station. Currently, it serves as one of the stops for the electric train service.
🎬Things to Do:
You can enter the building to see the suspended stairwell inside. The underground passage in this building will take you beneath the busy road and back to the station on the opposite side.
You can also stand in front of the Malaysian Railway Administration building opposite the station to view and photograph the entire railway station. The current station is perfect for taking photos and doesn’t require much time for a dedicated visit.
🕙Opening Hours: Open all day
