Most tourists’ first stop upon arriving in Kuala Lumpur is Little India, as it is located near Kuala Lumpur Central Station, but it is often easily overlooked by visitors. Next, I will introduce how to explore Kuala Lumpur’s Little India and some important things to note when visiting Hindu temples.
🇲🇾 Four Hindu Temples in Little India
The following four temples are close to each other, making them convenient to visit, but this does not mean these are the only ones.
Sri Kandaswamy Temple
Sri Kandaswamy Hindu Temple, dedicated to Murugan, a famous Hindu temple in Kuala Lumpur.
This temple was established by Sri Lankan Tamils in 1902, and its design is inspired by the well-known Jaffna Nallur Kandaswamy Temple.
Kuil Sri Krishna, Brickfields
Sri Krishna Temple
Sree Veera Hanuman Temple
Hanuman Monkey God Temple
Kuil Sri Maha Muneswarar
Muneswarar Hindu Temple, dedicated to the deity Muniswarar, who may be an incarnation of Shiva.
📷 Travel Tips
1. The area outside the KL Sentral shopping mall is collectively known as Little India, and right next to it is the famous Chinatown—Petaling Street.
2. These temples have no entrance fees and are free to visit. Remember to take off your shoes before entering.
3. Some temples prohibit photography indoors. If staff ask you to stop, be sure to immediately cease taking photos.
4. There are many Indian restaurants near Little India, so be sure to try authentic Indian cuisine. If you have high standards, you can search beforehand; otherwise, any restaurant you pick will definitely be authentic and delicious.
