Kumamoto Castle

Kumamoto Castle, with a history spanning over 400 years, is one of the most famous castles in Japan. Covering an expansive area of over 980,000 square meters, the castle is both magnificent and grand. It represents the quintessential style of Japanese hilltop castle architecture and is located in Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City, Kumamoto Prefecture.

Getting there:
Take the Kumamoto City Tram (lines A or B) and alight at Kumamotojo-Shiyakusho-Mae Station. From there, it's about a 7-minute walk to the castle.

Opening hours:
Monday to Friday: 7:30 AM – 10:00 PM
Saturday, Sunday, and public holidays: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM.
