The Ohara Museum of Art is located in the beautiful area of Kurashiki, Okayama Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 1930 by Kurashiki textile tycoon Magosaburo Ohara, it pays tribute to his close friend Kojima Torajiro. This is Japan's first private Western art museum ~🥇
At first he focused on French painting and sculpture in the 19th and 20th centuries, then rose to art greats such as Picasso and El Greco. The museum houses more than 3,000 works of art and crafts. The building is in Greco-Roman style, blending into the Kurashiki historical district. The core location of Okayama Cultural Heritage attracts art fans from all over the world to take pictures and witness the spark of the collision of Eastern and Western cultures. 🖼️

In 2025, the ticket price is 2,000 yen (approx. NT$450) for adults, 1,000 yen for high school/junior high school students, and free for elementary school students and younger! Online pre-orders are charged an additional 200 yen fee, the tour is about 3,000-5,000 yen per person, dedicated person to explain knowledge points, CP value is super high. Night visit same price, slowly see super cheap 👍
🚉Transportation Guide:
- From downtown Okayama, take the JR Sanyo Main Line to Kurashiki Station, about 15 minutes, fare 500 yen
- After arriving at the station, walk 15 minutes across the beautiful area, lazy can take the tram (100 yen)
- Osaka/Hiroshima over can Shinkansen + transfer, the total journey is only 1 ~ 2 hours
- Remember to reserve parking fee for self-drive tours: 500 yen
