Recommend a Kyoto Sanjo old shop theme City Walk

When traveling in Kyoto, I stayed at OMO5 Kyoto Sanjo Hotel, which is owned by Hoshino Hotels. As a local hotel brand, OMO Hotel in Kyoto offers guests the City Walk project for city exploration. During my stay, I followed the hotel's tour guide on a City Walk in the Sanjo area of Kyoto, with the theme of exploring the old shops in the surrounding commercial district.

There are many family-owned shops in Kyoto that are hundreds of years old. During this tour of old shops, the oldest one is the Kikuichimonji Honten, a knife shop with a history of more than 700 years. These knives are all handmade and of course the prices are not cheap.

What is more interesting is a handmade broom shop with a history of more than 200 years. These brooms look very delicate, and the most expensive broom costs nearly 50,000 yen.

We also visited Yoshida Gennojo, a wood-carved Buddha statue shop founded in 1572. The Buddha statues in the shop were very detailed, and many of their components could be disassembled.

There is a needle shop with a beautiful courtyard. I also saw a cloth Christmas tree for the first time in another store selling cloth wrappings. We also visited a Beijing fan shop. Similarly, these shops also have hundreds of years of history.

If you are interested in old shops in Kyoto, you might as well go and have a look.
