The hometown of Concubine Mei is located in Jiangdong Village, Huangshi Town, Putian County, on the banks of Ninghai Bridge, downstream of the Mulan River. Concubine Mei's original name was Jiang Caiping. During the reign of Emperor Xuanzong of Tang, she was selected as a concubine and later granted the title of imperial concubine. Because of her love for plum blossoms, Emperor Xuanzong nicknamed her "Plum Concubine." Jiangdong Village, Huangshi Town, Licheng District, on the south bank of Ninghai Bridge, along the Mulan River, is the hometown of Concubine Mei. Within the village, a palace-like building covering over 300 square meters, the Pukou Palace, houses a statue of the dignified Concubine Mei.
Pukou Palace is a provincial-level cultural relic protection site. The main hall houses a statue of Consort Mei, the consort of Emperor Minghuang of Tang. To the left is a statue of her brother, Jiang Caiqin, also known as Jiang Guojiu. The rear hall houses the emperor Xuantian Shangdi. The palace is believed to have been founded during the Tang Dynasty. Renovations followed in 1576 (the fourth year of the Wanli reign of the Ming Dynasty), 1689 (the 28th year of the Kangxi reign of the Qing Dynasty), and 1756 (the 21st year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty). The existing structure dates back to 1808 (the 13th year of the Jiaqing reign of the Qing Dynasty). Spanning approximately 1,500 square meters, it faces south and consists of a main gate, a worship pavilion, a main hall, a rear hall, and east and west corridors. The main hall features a single-eaved hip roof with two sashes, measuring five bays wide and four bays deep, with a raised-beam and through-beam structure. The worship pavilion's four columns, with square corners, connect to the front eaves of the main hall. The pavilion also features a raised-beam structure. The ceiling features a beautiful pattern of stacked brackets. The Ruyi brackets on the main gate are also exquisitely crafted. The palace's column bases, hanging lotuses, corbels, humps, and guardrails are all exquisitely carved, both in wood and stone. The entire Pukou Palace resembles the magnificent palaces in Beijing. Stone tablets such as the "Record of the Reconstruction of Pukou Palace" from the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty still exist in the palace.
