[Kyoto] Five-story pagoda (Toji Temple) within walking distance from the station

A tower that embodies the Buddhist view of the universe, started by Kobo Daishi. It is the tallest wooden structure in Japan. It is the fifth five-story pagoda, rebuilt in 1644 (Kan'ei 21). I visited it during a special public viewing. An overwhelming world unfolded before me. The garden is also beautiful and recommended for sightseeing in Kyoto.
