Yasaka Shrine in Gion district, Kyoto ⛩️🎎

As you wander down the streets from Kiyomizu-dera, Yasaka Shrine appears as the gateway between districts. With a two storey torii vermilion gate at the entrance, it is hard to miss. ⛩️

Yasaka-jinja holds immense cultural and historical significance in Kyoto. It is one of the most prominent Shinto shrines in Kyoto~ a focal point for many festivals and ceremonies that have taken place for centuries.

🎫 Admission is free, with no ticket required for entry. The shrine is open all hours every day.

Entering the gate and walking to the shrine, there are many food vendors and souvenir stalls. Inside, you can find many lanterns around the shrine. It is a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The impressive array of lanterns make the place come alive at night. 🏮

During the spring time, there are many large Cherry Blossom trees, making it a perfect photo opportunity. 🌸

It can become very crowded later in the afternoon and evening, so visit early in the morning or late at night to avoid this.
