[Kyoto] Visiting shrines and temples and the World Heritage site of Daigoji Temple

Daigoji Temple is located in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto City, and is the head temple of the Shingon sect of Buddhism. It was founded in 874. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1994, and has about 69,000 national treasures and 6,500 important cultural properties. Many temple treasures related to the nobility are on display in the Reihokan Museum.

Pass through the West Great Gate, rebuilt by Toyotomi Hideyoshi, and head to the Kondo Hall and the Five-Story Pagoda. In addition, near the Kannon Hall, there is Benten Pond, which offers truly beautiful scenery throughout the four seasons.

It is also a famous cherry blossom spot, having been selected as one of the 100 best cherry blossom spots in Japan, and you can enjoy the beautiful scenery in the spring and autumn leaves. When you visit Kyoto, be sure to visit Daigoji Temple as part of your World Heritage tour!
