Kinkaku-ji: Kyoto’s Iconic Golden Pavilion 🏯✨

#goingplaces

Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is one of Kyoto's most famous and stunning landmarks. Originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for the shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu, it was later converted into a Zen Buddhist temple. The pavilion’s top two floors are covered in gold leaf, creating a spectacular reflection on the pond, especially during sunrise and sunset when it glistens in the surrounding gardens.

🚊Getting There:
Kinkaku-ji is easily accessible by bus from Kyoto Station (Bus 101 or 205). The site is located in northern Kyoto, close to other notable temples like Ryoan-ji.
