Sanjusangendo Temple, officially known as Rengeoin Temple, is a Tendai Buddhist temple located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto Prefecture, Japan It was built in 1164 by Taira No Kiyomori, a powerful lord at the time, as a tribute to Emperor Go Shira. Inside the temple are 1001 statues of the Thousand Handed Kannon, each with a different expression, expressing the emotions and compassion of Kannon. The atmosphere inside the building is quiet and filled with faith. The area behind the main building is shady and beautiful, perfect for relaxation. Sanjusagendo Temple is a popular place for people to worship and ask for blessings of compassion and protection. It is worth a visit.
