🏖️Overview:
To-ji Temple is officially called Kyoogokoku-ji Temple and is the only surviving relic of Heian-kyo. It was the first esoteric Buddhist temple built in Japan, and became the main training center for Shingon Esoteric Buddhism by Kukai🧑🦲. The five-story pagoda in the temple grounds is 54.8m tall, making it the tallest wooden tower in Japan☝️. It was registered as a World Heritage Site in 1994.
💞Reasons why we recommend it:
It's a classic, but the five-story pagoda, which can be said to be a landmark of Kyoto, is a masterpiece. The grounds are also spacious and there are many things to see, and you will be overwhelmed by the many national treasure Buddha statues. If you check the basic information beforehand, you will have a deeper understanding🧐. Although it is a little far from Kyoto Station, it is within walking🚶 distance, so please stop by.
