Fushimi Inari:

aka “Just a quick look at the red pillars” and then “Why haven’t we finished walking up the mountain yet?”
When I listed it on my trip, I thought it would be a cute place to walk around and relax, but it turned out to be like being forced to take an outdoor fitness class.
But honestly… it was so worth it!

I walked up while sweating like a little pilgrim whose soul had left his body at the thousand-year-old gate.

Most people only walked halfway, but we didn’t give up. We fought, we suffered, we climbed all the way up, and the view from the top was amazing.

I highly recommend it 10 out of 10. If you’re going, bring snacks, good shoes, and prepare yourself to experience unintentional spiritual awakening.
