Shugakuin Imperial Villa, one of the four major imperial palaces in Kyoto, after making an appointment to visit Katsura Imperial Villa and Kyoto Sento Imperial Villa, I finally came to Shugakuin Imperial Villa, a royal palace quietly located between mountains and rice fields.

The imperial villa is divided into three areas: upper, middle and lower. It is built according to the mountain terrain. Each imperial villa has its own garden waterscape and buildings, and the three imperial villas are connected by pine trees and wooden paths.

What is more special is that there are rice terraces on both sides of the pine trees and wooden paths. It is said that in order to preserve this simple scenery, the imperial villa commissioned nearby farmers to plant here, so there are acres of pastoral scenery.
