Hotel Intergate Kyoto Shijo Shinmachi Review

Hotel Intergate Kyoto Shijo Shinmachi offers a unique lounge service for all guests. This newly opened Japanese chain hotel has locations in Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Hiroshima, with breakfast being the only paid service.

The lounge provides various complimentary services, including hand-drip coffee during welcome drink time, afternoon tea, unlimited wine during happy hour, and a dinner option in the form of ochazuke. Morning coffee is also available the next day. Except for paid alcoholic beverages during happy hour, all lounge services are free.

The hotel features a library with manga books, a spacious public bath, and facilities like a healing room and massage chairs in the after-lounge, all of which are free to use. However, the highest floor of the hotel is only the 5th floor.

Check-in is handled by staff at the reception, while accommodation tax and breakfast tickets are processed through self-service machines. Kyoto imposes an accommodation tax of 200 yen per person, up to a maximum of 1,000 yen.

Due to its location in a residential area, rooms below the Intergate Room level on the Shinmachi side have windows covered with frosted film, offering no view. This detail might not be apparent until you enter the room. 🤣

The afternoon tea time in the lounge offers three types of snacks and two desserts, which felt insufficient compared to the previous day at Granvia. The happy hour snacks are limited to just cookies.

During welcome drink and afternoon tea time, coffee is served, while cocktails are available during happy hour. Before the free dinner time ends, I tried the ochazuke, which exceeded expectations in taste.

The lounge was lively, with couples and small groups enjoying drinks. Despite the lack of a view, the rooms are spacious, and the modern bathrooms feature deep bathtubs, allowing for a relaxing soak.

The next morning, I joined breakfast service. The same space transformed with a variety of dishes, creating a vibrant atmosphere. Many guests were enjoying breakfast. Starting with rice and miso soup, I found the curry, grilled fish, steamed vegetables, shrimp, and other dishes to be excellent. The fruit selection was good, and the pudding and coffee jelly desserts were delicious. The difference between paid and free services was quite noticeable. 🤣

Despite initial mixed feelings about the lounge service, the excellent breakfast made up for the lack of a view and the limited afternoon tea offerings, leaving me highly satisfied. Thank you.
