Chion-in Temple is an ancient Buddhist temple located in Higashiyama District. It was founded in the 14th century and is one of the famous tourist attractions in Kyoto. The most famous attraction is a giant 24-meter-high Nirvana statue made of golden wood carvings, which is one of the largest wooden Buddha statues in Japan.
