A Day Enchanted by Subtle Beauty: Ginkaku-ji, Nanzen-ji, and Tenmangu Shrine

Ginkaku-ji, though less extravagant than Kinkaku-ji, left a deeper and more serene impression on me. Its meticulously maintained garden, sand garden, and modest architecture seemed to cleanse the soul. I realized the understated charm of silver-gray could be even more captivating than the brilliance of gold.

Walking along the Philosopher's Path from Ginkaku-ji, I arrived at Nanzen-ji. The grand Sanmon Gate and the tranquil temple grounds were truly remarkable. The Suirōkaku Aqueduct, in particular, felt like a scene straight out of a movie, and I found myself lingering there for quite some time.

Lastly, I visited Tenmangu Shrine, a place dedicated to the deity of learning. Perhaps because of this, there were many parents of students preparing for exams. The ema (wooden prayer plaques) filled with wishes created a heartwarming sight.

Kyoto once again reminded me of its quiet and contemplative charm that draws people in.
