The gardens of Ginkaku-ji Temple were softly radiant in the spring sunshine. While there were quite a few tourists, it was perfect for a quiet stroll, and the elegance of the Ginkaku-ji Sand Garden was even more impressive in person than in photos.
Walking along the Philosopher's Path, we naturally arrived at Nanzen-ji Temple. We took photos under the red brick arches of the Amur aqueduct and climbed the Sanmon Gate to enjoy the unforgettable view. It was a place of both grandeur and tranquility.
Our final stop was Kitano Tenmangu Shrine, a shrine filled with the prayers of students. Seeing the ema (wish plaques) hung throughout the grounds brought a sense of calm. It was a day spent fully experiencing the "quiet beauty" of Kyoto before moving on to Uji.
