01 Travel from Osaka to Kyoto
Start your journey early in the morning from Osaka and take a train to Kyoto, which takes about 50 minutes. Upon arrival, take a taxi to Kiyomizu-dera Temple.
02 Kiyomizu-dera Temple
This is one of Kyoto's oldest and most famous landmarks. It's a must-visit for anyone coming to Kyoto. The temple features stunning architecture and offers beautiful surrounding views. Spend about 1-2 hours exploring the area.
03 Lunch near Kiyomizu-dera Temple
The slope leading up to the temple is lined with numerous restaurants and souvenir shops. We stopped for lunch here. It's recommended to choose restaurants closer to the entrance as they tend to be more affordable.
04 Explore Kyoto City
Take a bus from the bus stop near Kiyomizu-dera Temple to Kyoto Station. At the station, you can shop for souvenirs, clothing, and enjoy some snacks while exploring the area.
05 Arashiyama
Travel to Arashiyama by train from Kyoto Station, which takes about 30 minutes. This area is one of our favorites due to its natural and tranquil atmosphere. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll, especially in the late afternoon when the weather is pleasant and the scenery is stunning. Spend about 1-2 hours here.
06 Togetsu-kyo Bridge
Enjoy a relaxing walk and take photos at this scenic bridge with a great atmosphere.
07 % Arabica Kyoto Arashiyama
Stop by this riverside café for coffee. Although it's a popular spot with a bit of a queue, the wait isn't too long. The coffee is delicious, and the matcha is excellent. Sip your drink while enjoying the view—it's a delightful experience.
08 Arashiyama Bamboo Grove
This serene and cool natural attraction features a walking path about 500 meters long. If you venture deeper into the grove, you'll find a railway track with trains passing through. Spend around 45 minutes here for a relaxing walk and photo opportunities.
09 Return to Osaka
Take a train back to Osaka from Kyoto, which takes about 50 minutes.
Personally, I think staying overnight would be better as there are more places I'd like to visit. Kyoto has a laid-back and relaxing vibe, and I highly recommend visiting at least once.
