Half Day Kimono Itinerary (Kyoto)

Wearing a kimono is a beautiful experience. Here’s my suggested itinerary for your comfort, with everything within walking distance: 🌸

We arrived at the Kimono rental shop at 9am for Kimono dressing and hairdo. Makeup is NOT included in the package. Last call to return the Kimono is at 5:30pm. ⚠️

📍Ninenzaka 二年坂 and Sannenzaka 三年坂: These ancient cobblestone streets have thrived since 808 AD. They pay homage to Nene, the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi, who climbed these steps in prayer for a healthy child

📍 Yasaka Pagoda 八坂の塔: Built by Prince Shotoku in 589 AD, Yasaka Pagoda was brought to life by a dream-inspired vision.

📍 Kodaiji 高台寺: In 1605, Nene built Kodaiji as a heartfelt tribute to her late husband. ⚠️ Don’t miss the serene bamboo grove that often goes unnoticed by many! ⚠️

📍 Kiyomizu-dera 清水寺: Kiyomizu-dera is known for its iconic wooden terrace, which was built without a single nail. The popular Japanese expresion “To jump off the stage at Kiyomizu”, refers to an Edo-period tradition where brave individuals would leap from the 13-meter high wooden terrace to have their wish granted (IF they survive the fall)!

📍 Yasaka Jinja 八坂神社: Founded over 1350 years ago, Yasaka Jinja is renowned for its summer festival, the Gion Matsuri, celebrated annually in July.
