This five-story wooden pagoda, over 1,400 years old, is a symbol of Kyoto.
The surrounding atmosphere is filled with ancient wooden houses, teahouses, and old streets, perfect for taking photos in a kimono.
Photos here evoke a nostalgic Japanese feel, especially with the pagoda as a backdrop.
✨At night, the pagoda is lit up, creating a truly romantic atmosphere. We visited around 7 PM, as shops around here close very early, closing at 6 PM.
📍 Getting there
• Both temples are located in the Higashiyama district of Kyoto.
• Take a bus from Kyoto Station and get off at the Gojo-zaka/Kiyomizu-michi stop. Then, enjoy a leisurely walk up the historic streets of Sannenzaka and Ninenzaka. You'll find both Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Yasaka Pagoda, all on the same route.
