Exploring Kyoto’s Temples and Timeless Streets: The Ultimate Walkable Day Guide

The city’s traditional architecture set against Japan’s lush, untamed natural beauty is absolutely breathtaking.
Places like Nanzen-ji Temple offer fleeting moments of stillness - moments where you can feel the quiet power of history, craftsmanship, and nature coming together. Those rare moments were the highlight of my time here.
But honestly, it was disheartening to see how mass tourism has affected the city. Loud, disrespectful crowds in sacred spaces, and even litter - something I never once saw in Tokyo - really disrupted the peace Kyoto is known for. It's painful to witness a place so rooted in cultural reverence being treated with such disregard.
I don’t know if I’ll return, but I’ll always remember the beauty I did find. One unforgettable experience was a tiny, one-man ramen restaurant called “Arajin”, recommended by the staff at my hotel, ROKU KYOTO, LXR. They specialize in miso-based ramen, and it was hands down the best I’ve ever had - I still dream about it. Everyone should pay a visit to Arajin!!! .#kyoto #rokukyoto #nanzenjitemple #ramen #bluebottlecoffee #fushimiinari #arajin
