Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine, located in southern Kyoto, Japan, was founded in 711 AD. It is dedicated to the Inari deity, symbolizing abundant harvests, commercial prosperity, and family safety.
Since Inari uses foxes as messengers, fox statues are scattered throughout the shrine. The shrine sits atop Mount Inari (233 meters high) and boasts over 10,000 vermilion torii gates, donated by devotees as a token of prayer and gratitude.
As the head shrine of approximately 30,000 Inari shrines in Japan, it blends Shinto traditions with natural beauty, forming a core part of Kyoto's cultural heritage and attracting history and religious enthusiasts from around the world.

From Kyoto Station, take the JR Nara Line to Inari Station (5 minutes, 150 yen); or take the Keihan Main Line to Fushimi Inari Station, a 5-minute walk. JR Pass holders can ride the Nara Line for free.
Taxi fares are approximately 2,000 yen, and parking fees for self-drive vehicles are approximately 500 yen.
