Inside the temple, particularly in the Zen hall and tea room, the walls are adorned with ancient Japanese paintings depicting natural landscapes, flora and fauna, and Zen philosophy. These artworks exude a tranquil energy, and while admiring them, you might encounter Zen monks who share insights about the art and spirituality, deepening your understanding of their meaning.
With soft lighting and a faint aroma in the air, the serene environment encourages you to slow down and savor the charm of each painting. Here, it’s not just about appreciating art—it’s also a spiritual experience.
Getting there is convenient; take the city bus to the "Kennin-ji Temple" stop. Opening hours are from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Admission fee: approximately 400 yen for adults. Reminder: Please maintain silence, respect the temple's religious atmosphere, and carefully admire each piece of art.
