Here’s your hit-list for exploring two epic cities: Kyoto’s ancient heart and (next stop) Tokyo! If jaw-dropping temples, tranquil waterfalls, and those classic Kyoto winding streets sound like your vibe, you’ll love this route. 🌸✨
Kyoto Must-See Spots:
1. Jishu Shrine [1 Chome-317 Kiyomizu, Higashiyama, Kyoto 605-0862] – Pop by for a little love-luck! This shrine’s famous for its matchmaking stone tests.
2. Kiyomizu-dera Temple [1 Chome-294 Kiyomizu, Higashiyama] – Open from 6am, this UNESCO masterpiece is all about hillside city views. Bonus: If you’re here Nov 22–Dec 7, visit at night—the temple stays open till 9:30pm and looks incredible when illuminated!
3. Otowa-no-taki Falls [same as Kiyomizu-dera] – Don’t skip this sacred waterfall. Each stream promises a different blessing: longevity, success at school, or love.
4. Kiyomizu-dera Temple Okunoin – This quieter pavilion has dreamy photo spots (go early for no crowds).
5. Sannenzaka & Ninenzaka [2-chome Masuya-cho, Higashiyama-ku] – Wander these iconic, sloping stone lanes dotted with old teahouses and sweet shops—perfect for souvenir hunting!
6. Hōkan-ji Temple (Yasaka Pagoda) – Snap that classic Kyoto cityscape here; sunrise is next-level.
Walking is king in central Kyoto, and all these sights string together perfectly, so lace up comfy shoes. The city buses are cheap for longer hops, but Google Maps directions are your BFF. Street food on Ninenzaka is a must—try yatsuhashi and matcha soft serve.
Don’t forget: Most temples open early—beat the tour groups by starting at 7am!
