After 1860, the Qing government was forced to sign the Treaty of Tianjin, opening Zhenjiang to trade. In 1861, the 11th year of Emperor Xianfeng's reign, concessions were established at the foot of Yuntai Mountain, along Zhenping Mountain, Yingjiang Road, and along the riverbank. British, American, and Japanese consulates were built, leading to the emergence of numerous Western-style buildings. Subsequently, some imitation Western-style architecture, a fusion of Chinese and Western styles, and classical Chinese architecture also emerged.

These buildings, like the International Bank on the Bund in Shanghai, have stood for over a century, yet they still retain their ancient charm.
