Kinkakuji Temple, Kiyomizudera Temple, Fushimi Inari Shrine and Arashiyama are a must-visit for Japan's most representative ancient capitals on a day trip to Kyoto! These attractions have different styles, allowing you to experience the history, culture and natural beauty of Kyoto all at once. The following shares the itinerary route, photo spots, must-do highlights and tips!

Itinerary route suggestions:
It is recommended to start at Kinkakuji Temple (morning morning session), then move on to Kiyomizu Temple, then to Fushimi Inari Shrine, and move to the Arashiyama area at noon to play Togetsu Bridge and Tenryuji Temple. The whole journey can take advantage of JR, Hankyu or bus and takes about 8-10 hours.

Kinkakuji Temple (Kinkakuji-cho 1, 09:00-17:00)
Highlights: The outer layer of Kinkakuji Temple is pasted with real gold foil, with the reflection on the lake, very shocking! Arriving early can avoid the crowds.
Photo spot: Poolside frontage, take a picture of the entire reflection front of Kinkakuji Temple, super beautiful!
Tip: The temple is not very large, the visit is about 30 minutes, it is recommended to buy the Kinkakuji limited royal guard on the way.

Kiyomizudera Temple (294 Kiyomizu 1-chome, 06:00-18:00)
Highlights: One of Kyoto’s must-see landmarks, the Shimizu Stage is built on a hillside and looks spectacular. Great views during cherry blossom or maple leaf season.
Photo spots: Clear Water Stage, Renwang Gate, Triple Tower are very atmospheric.
Tip: There is a fee to enter, there are many stairs up and down the temple, comfortable shoes are recommended. There is a Shimizuzaka shopping street nearby, so you can buy souvenirs on the way.

Fushimi Inari Taisha Shrine (68, Fukasanagi-cho, open 24 hours)
Highlights: Chibon Torii is one of the most famous photo spots in Kyoto, the red torii is spectacular. You are free to visit at night.
Photo spots: Main entrance and Chibon Torii Trail, remember to take pictures of the Torii Tunnel feeling.
Tip: To photograph less people torii, it is recommended to arrive early in the morning or before dusk. The Torii Mountain Trail is longer and can be challenged to the summit depending on the time.

Arashiyama (3-47 Mangnobacho, Saga Tenryuji Temple)
Highlights: The natural scenery is super beautiful, with the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest, the Moon Crossing Bridge, and near Tenryuji Temple. The atmosphere is better during the spring cherry and autumn maple periods.
Photo spots: Crossing the Moon Bridge is best for taking family or couple photos; Arashiyama Bamboo Forest can take photos of Japanese style.
Tip: The Arashiyama area is relatively large, so you can reserve two to three hours. Walking along the river bank or street is very relaxing.

Tenryuji Temple (Arashiyama)
Highlights: Known for its Zen gardens and historic buildings, it feels like a paradise.
Photo spots: the main courtyard of the temple, the dry mountains and rivers by the pool.
Tip: Tenryuji Temple is very close to Arashiyama Bamboo Forest and it is recommended to visit together for an entrance fee.

Notes:
1. It is recommended to go to Kinkakuji Temple in the morning, less crowded and comfortable; Arashiyama area more tourists in the afternoon, want to take beautiful photos best to go early.
2. Transportation to and from the attractions It is recommended to tap the card directly with ICOCA or Suica card.
3. Most temples in Kyoto require an entrance fee (generally 400-800 yen), remember to prepare cash in advance.
4. Comfortable sneakers or hiking shoes must be worn for more steps.
