We visited Rokujuan, a beautiful shop famous on Instagram for its delicate Hana Warabi Mochi — a treat as lovely to look at as it is to eat. The shop is located in the former residence of Imao Keinen, a renowned Japanese painter who was active from the Meiji to Taisho era. The building itself is a registered cultural property, and every corner reflects its historical charm.
From the tranquil garden to the traditional tatami rooms, everything about Rokujuan exudes calm and refinement. Enjoying sweets in such a space feels like stepping back in time — a rare, peaceful moment that makes you appreciate Kyoto’s deep connection to art and beauty.
