A must-visit 550-year-old soba restaurant in Kyoto

Located just a 3-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station in Kyoto, Honke Owariya Main Branch is a soba restaurant with a 550-year history.
Housed in a traditional two-story building, you can feel the essence of Japanese tradition both inside and out. The soba noodles had the characteristic firmness of buckwheat but were not overpowering, making them easy on the stomach. The tempura was absolutely delicious—light, crispy, and not greasy, pairing perfectly with the soba. The restaurant operates for only 4 hours a day and is very popular, so be prepared for a wait right from opening time!
