Jin Jin Tea House ☕️

I stumbled upon this tea house while lost in Kyoto. If it weren't for the scorching heat, I wouldn't have even considered this unassuming little place. Upon entering, the worn leather sofas and cigarette-stained walls speak volumes about the shop's history. The atmosphere is simply stunning. ✨
The owners are both elderly, a grandmother and a grandfather. All the dishes are freshly made and served while still smoky. Highly recommended! "Egg Salad Sandwich" 🥪
It's not your typical egg salad (the mayonnaise and potato kind).
It's more like an omelet with ketchup 🥫. The toast is super fluffy and melts in your mouth 🤤. It has a very home-cooked feel.
My friend ordered the mackerel set 🐟. The fish wasn't fishy at all. Even the salad dressing was different from what you'd find elsewhere. It was so delicious that even my picky friends devoured it 😋
This place is very similar to the one at the corner of the alley when I was a kid. Whenever I was hungry, I'd go there for home-cooked meals. Even though we couldn't speak the language, the owner was as friendly as a familiar grandma. She even brought the shop cat over for us to take a photo 🐈. The cat is actually my grandma's cat. So huge!! So cute 😍
