Nishi Honganji is a beautiful temple located not far from Kyoto Station.⛩️

One of the two main temples of the Jodo Shinshu sect, Nishi Honganji was built in 1591 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

This temple is a superb example of architecture from the Momoyama and early Edo periods.

The temple features unique architecture and is a great place to stop and pay your respects upon exiting Kyoto Station. There is no admission fee.
