Nishi Honganji Temple⛩️ is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and part of the "Historic Monuments of Ancient Kyoto."

It was built in 1591 by Toyotomi Hideyoshi.

The temple's main buildings⛩️ are Goeido Hall, dedicated to Shinran, the founder of the sect, and Amidado Hall, dedicated to Amitabha Buddha.

The name "Honganji" means "Temple of the Primal Vow," referring to the temple's pledge to save all beings from suffering.

There is no admission fee.
