Arashiyama, Kyoto: A signboard proclaims it the birthplace of rice crackers.

I had zenzai at Gen'i-an, the teahouse of Oimatsu, a renowned confectionery supplier.

The menu included the specialty "hon-warabi mochi" (real warabi mochi) and fresh sweets.
All of the items were delicious.

Looking back, I wonder why I didn't order the specialty, but
I'm sure the sweet aroma of zenzai was wafting through the shop. ☺️

It's delicious to eat what you just want, not necessarily the specialty. 😊

There's a sign in front of the shop that reads "Birthplace of Senbei (rice cracker)."
You can really feel that this area has long been a center of sweets.
