Beigu Mountain, one of the three scenic mountains in Zhenjiang, is known for its rugged cliffs and rugged terrain, overlooking the Beigu River. The story of Liu Bei's marriage proposal at Ganlu Temple during the Three Kingdoms period took place on Beigu Mountain. Known for its steepness, Beigu Mountain has become famous for this story. The mountain's pavilions, towers, and rocky paths are all associated with historical legends such as the marriage between Sun and Liu during the Three Kingdoms period, making it a popular destination for tourists seeking historical relics. Ganlu Temple, perched high atop the peak, has the distinctive "temple crowning the mountain" aesthetic. Legend has it that it was first built in the first year of the Ganlu reign of the Eastern Wu Dynasty (265 AD) during the Three Kingdoms period and subsequently abandoned and rebuilt several times. The temple complex, comprising the Main Hall, Laojun Hall, Guanyin Hall, and Jiangsheng Pavilion, is small in scale but renowned for its reputation. Throughout history, visitors to Zhenjiang have enjoyed visiting this spot to explore the remains of Liu Bei's marriage proposal.
Beigushan Mountain consists of the Front Peak, the Middle Peak, and the Back Peak. The main peak, the Back Peak, offers the most scenic views. The Front Peak, formerly the site of an ancient palace of the Eastern Wu Dynasty, is now the Zhenjiang Martyrs Cemetery. The Middle Peak, formerly home to a meteorological building, is now a traditional Chinese painting gallery. The Back Peak, the main peak of Beigushan Mountain, faces the Yangtze River to the north. Surrounded by cliffs on three sides, the terrain is steep and lush, with trees lining the mountain. Many scenic spots and historical sites are located within. Known as "the most beautiful mountain and river in the world," the Back Peak, the main peak of Beigushan Mountain, rests on the Yangtze River, its cliffs sheer and steep, offering the most breathtaking views.
