Kinkakuji Temple

There are many famous shrines and temples in Kyoto, but the one that stands out the most is Kinkaku-ji Temple. The exterior walls are covered in gold leaf, and the way it shines golden is a spectacle that is rarely seen in Japan, a country with a culture of wabi-sabi. However, it is not obnoxious and somehow it blends in with the surrounding scenery.
