Kiyomizu-dera Temple

#TravelJapan Kiyomizu-dera (Kiyomizu-dera), also known as the "Pure Water Temple," is not only renowned throughout the prefecture, but also arguably the most famous temple in Japan. Its stunning ancient architecture has earned it a UNESCO World Heritage List. The name "Pure Water Temple" comes from the fact that the temple was built in 780 CE, and the natural waters of Otowa Waterfall flow through it. A highlight of the trip is undoubtedly the massive wooden structure, which is impressively constructed without any nails, a testament to the ingenuity of ancient people. The pillars of the building rise 13 meters from the ground, and the cantilevered hall offers stunning views of Kyoto in all seasons. It's also a renowned spot for cherry blossom and autumn foliage viewing.
Train: Approximately a 20-minute walk from Kiyomizu-Gojo Station on the Keihan Railway Line.
