Pulau Payar, Marine Park - Langkawi, Malaysia

Pulau Payar Marine Park is located around 30 km away from Langkawi island and tourists can get there via a 45 min speedboat.

It is the only place off the western coast of peninsular Malaysia which has exotic coral reefs and marine life similar to that of the Indian ocean.


The island is very tiny, a little more than 1,5 km long and a little more than 100 m wide. Nearby there are several smaller islands, also included in the marine park. There is no tourist infrastructure for a long tourist stay, and this is prohibited, since the island and the marine park is a protected area. Tourists can only visit the reserve in the form of an excursion for the purpose of diving, snorkeling and relaxing on the beach.
