Peak District at it’s finest

Visited Ilam in the Peak District and it is truly beautiful countryside. streams winding through verdant hills and unfenced fields full of sheep that you drive through the middle of, going over old cattle grids to enter and exit. In the centre of Ilam the old houses look almost Swiss and the road past them leads to Ilam Hall which is now a Youth Hostel.
The Hall has a tea room, a book shop and parking (around £6) and it’s free to walk around the gardens and grounds which run down to a river.
Perfect picnic spot with kids and dogs.
