Nestled at the border of Gansu and Sichuan provinces, Langmu Temple—also known as Liangmu Temple—is a tranquil Tibetan Buddhist sanctuary surrounded by misty mountains, alpine meadows, and the winding Bailong River. Often called “Little Lhasa”, this sacred site offers a deeply immersive experience into Tibetan culture, spirituality, and nature.
📜 History & Cultural Significance
Founded in 1748 during the Qianlong Emperor’s reign, Langmu Temple is divided into two main monasteries:
Saichi Temple (赛赤寺) on the Gansu side
Geerdeng Temple (格尔底寺) on the Sichuan side
These temples are home to over 1,000 monks, making up a third of the local population. The area is also known for its sky burial platform, a sacred site where Tibetan Buddhists perform celestial burials—a ritual symbolizing the return to nature and spiritual rebirth.
Langmu Temple is a center for major Tibetan festivals such as the Molang Festival and Shoton Festival, featuring prayer ceremonies, butter sculptures, and traditional dances
